Portland based indie / psyche / folk / punk poet Olivia Awbrey's latest single "Don't Be Alarmed" is an exuberant dish of post punk pie with a lot of flavors. The guitar attacks screech, the cadence runs away, Awbrey's vox feel clear and laid back, the musical breaks have indie rock and punk flourishes. At one point I thought of the Pixies and at another moment I thought of Juliana Hatfield. The song has a wide array of textures and in the end the aesthetic feels like (politically active) folk punk to me. Descriptions are just that and what is important is how this track makes you feel. Listen, feel it. I think you will like it.
