When I first heard about Pocket Sounds, the music project launched (2016) by Austin based multi-instrumentalist Mike StClair, I thought of the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and in a way their are similarities to the vast pop sound Brian Wilson crafted and StClair's Radio Song. There is a fair amount of whimsy and 70's chamber pop sound. For over a decade, StClair has toured and recorded with bands including Okkervil River, The Polyphonic Spree, White Denim and more and is well know in the Austin music scene for his bass, trombone and synthesizer skills in the studio and as a live performance musician. Get lost in the pop twists and turns of Radio Song.
