AP Track Review:
On the track Crutch amid plaintive guitars with a bouncy hook and a mid tempo beat, Niall from North London's Mirror Shot sings, "In the gravity chamber of my heart... I really did make it this very hard" in an introspective way laced with a bit of sadness. I was immediately hooked. The melodies and indie rock tones with folk rock underpinnings are comfortably catchy. Love the guitar work and the way the bass, drums all interlock in cool ways. Lovely stuff. Oddly enough I thought of Pavement and Tom Petty in the same breath.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM- PRESS NOTES:
Niall, Adam and Olivia met up in North London in 2018 through the internet to play together, having bonded over their shared love of the alternative American guitar canon - Built to Spill, Television, Pavement...
Having nothing better to do, they practiced some instrumentals that Niall had written, thinking they'd find a singer eventually to finish everything off and start gigging. Months and months and months later, absolutely no one they'd found seemed to fit.
Eventually, they ran out of options and patience. Morale was sinking, tensions were rising. Niall had a breakdown. He felt he had to at least try fronting the band, despite a paranoid, all-encompassing fear of singing that (still) extends to shit like Happy Birthday and anthems and whatever. Otherwise, they were just going to have to call it a day.
Magically, everything locked into place, and their twisty melodic sound coalesced into bittersweet hook-filled songs. Since then, they've been joined by Mikey Burton on bass and have played venues across London, including supporting Nile Marr at the Old Blue Last.
Described by gig attendees as "amazing", "loud", and "not good with eye contact", Mirror Shot have big things in the works to follow their upcoming London dates - stay tuned.
