"down home porch rock"
Electric Blue Yonder are based out of Montgomery, Alabama and passionately dispense their self described "space folk" with roots based folk and rock tones. In the curiously (but not scantily) clad Schtick Shift (Dimension) from their newly released album "Between Space and Time" (2020) you can hear the lovely blues rock down strokes and lyrical bounce provided by principle songwriters Johnny Veres (guitar, vox) and Beth Hataway (guitar, vox). While both have voices that feel comfortable, engagingly gritty and a bit road worn, when they sing together is when (for me) the magic happens. There is also a down home porch rock feel that is so, so sweet. An embraceable bass by Russell Thomas Bush, rad drumming touches by Sam Pittinos, dirtied up electric guitar work and sweetly soaring orchestration (I am guessing a string quartet).

"EBY is a diamond-bright exploration of rock's past, present and hopeful future. As saviors of the genre go, they make a powerful argument that theirs is one of the few revolutions left worth signing up for…" - Blue Sullivan of Slant Magazine.
Based in Montgomery AL, Electric Blue Yonder materialized in December 2015 when Principle Songwriters Johnny Veres & Beth Hataway married their knowledge of Folksy roots and rock elements with Soaring harmonies and an atmosphere of psychedelia. The duo performed as "Blue Yonder" as they honed their craft, adding a rotating cast of members before finally settling on the core group with the addition of Russell Thomas Bush on Bass and Sam Pittinos on Drums. The result is a genre-bending mix that captures a nostalgic familiarity while simultaneously transporting you into uncharted territory.
