Chicago power pop rockers Pinebocks Facebook list a lot of influences, one being 20/20. You just don't see that everyday and that enough made me want to check them out. While I still need to check out Pinebocks catalog, their new single is tasty. While it is steeped in a late 70's / early 80's power pop vibe and has a kind of 60's Brit pop (proto punk) sway, it also feels a little grittier which I like. The vocal performance has just the right amount of sardonicism. Cool stuff.
