"Blåkulla" by The Hanged Man makes me think of Pink Floyd, Bauhaus and The Gories all at the same time.

On Dubious Records, the track Blåkulla by The Hanged Man out of Sweden starts with tenuous strings / flute sounds hanging like a mysterious even scary fog. Bass sounds and beat become visible trees as those synths take over until Rebecka Rolfart's commanding sultry vocals hold sway as drum rolls form their own counter melody. When the chorus turns deadly quiet except for a Gothic piano and Rebecka's haunting vocal you are utterly and completely pulled into this atmosphere that feels almost like a B-movie horror drama romance. 

Other sounds create tension in some sort of creepy industrialism. More drama, and more overflowing. Such a trippy cool song. Oddly enough I am thinking about Pink Floyd and Bauhaus and The Gories at the same damn time. I am loving this so much.

Rebecka Rolfart, formerly guitarist in Those Dancing Days and bass player in Vulkano, is back with her band The Hanged Man. After two previous EP releases "First Quarter Moon” from 2014 and "Lord Have Mercy" from 2016 (Kning Disk / Telegram), the time has come to share the full length debut album "Of Blood Is Full" this year.

"Of Blood Is Full" was recorded during the summer of 2016 at Palazzo Stabile, an old winery in the small, beautiful village of Castelletto Molina in northern Italy. It was then finalized at Studio Dubious in Stockholm, Sweden.

Last year she did a support tour together with Shout Out Louds.

The main inspiration for the debut album comes from Rebecka Rolfart feeling just like her chest had been overgrown, with something hidden inside her heart.

The nine songs on the album form a collection of memories, dreams and fears – all a perfect blend of darkness, cinematic psychedelia and pop.

Rolfart has written the complete album and together with her band members arranged the songs to the final creations.

The Hanged Man consists of the same fantastic group of musicians heard on previous releases, all well known names of the Swedish and international music scene:
