"Little Fort" by Vern Matz is indie pop with a dense emotional core

Little Fort by indie pop trio Vern Matz as emotionally dense as it is beautiful. There is an unabashedly sweet tone here that skates goosebumps against your skin. It is the kind of gentle embracing kind of song that might give you a hug if you are down or bring you to tears. Lovely stuff.

PRESS NOTES:

Formed by a group of Yale students, Vern Matz toes the line between indie rock, folk, and alternative music. The band is led by frontman Daniel Belgrad, a Korean American who mistrusts penguins due to their tendency to perform acts of violence. Pianist Michael Lituchy is an investment banker who secretly writes songs in the twilight while raising cattle in remote Connecticut. Together, their sound showcases an earnest approach to songwriting and mature musicianship, echoing the work of seminal artists such as Wilco, Mazzy Star, and Death Cab for Cutie.
