Kai Orion's trippy garden rockish inhalation "Regret" feels darkly beautiful

AP Track Review

Kai Orion's track Regret with it's pedal steel (or slide) guitar sounds, psyche tinged guitars, drums and bass garden rock dance and Orion's avant garde drawn vocal performance feels like a 70's Big Sur long haired escapade. When the song takes off running, the sky is the limit and I wondered if a long heady jam would ensue. It does not but the track winds down to comfortable, yet trippy places. The result is a head trip of a song, beautiful but a bit dangerous, kind of Modest Mousey (or not) and totally engaging like a strong trip (drug related or otherwise).

Regret is from Kai Orion's 2019 full length called "Start To End" - cool.

The Official Video is amusing to say the least.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Kai Orion is an internationally recognized experimental-pop artist from D.C. Orion's career began in 2014, when he won a cover contest held by indie rock band The National for his cover of their song "I Need My Girl," using household objects as instruments. Since then, he's earned a reputation for blending experimental sounds with heartfelt songwriting, drawing comparisons to the likes of Peter Gabriel and Tom Waits. This culminated in May 2019, when Orion was selected to be one of 20 musicians worldwide participating in a 4 day recording session at Peter Gabriel's own Real World Studios in Bath, England. His song "Raining In My Head" was subsequently released through the Real World label.
Kai Orion's second album, "Start To End" was released in 2019 and features some of his most compelling work yet, combining found sounds and organic textures with strong melodies and charismatic vocals.
