The ethereal shoe gaze post rock track "Hadare" by Monocism

AP Track Review

The ethereal track Hadare by Japanese shoe gaze post rock duo Monocism rides on a mantra of guitar lines and washed out ambience. The hushed melodies somehow remind me of Yoko Kano and Seatbelts (Cowboy Be-Bop Original Soundtrack). Within the patterns there is a lot going on, lovely crescendos of sound and sad, love torn melodies. Monocism is Tomoyo Shiono (vox, guitar, producer) and Yoshiaki Kitamura (guitar).

Hadare is from the band's new album entitled "Fukou"

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Formed in 2007. The band members include Tomoya Shiono(vo.g), Yoshiaki Kitamura (g). Elements of Shoegaze and Post-rock inform the sound, where thunderous guitars and delicate vocals combine into magical, majestic music. Since their formation, they have appeared at large festivals such as FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and have given highly regarded performances such as their closing set at the all-night festival METAMORPHOSE. After being involved in a variety of artist remixes and compilations at home and abroad, they went on hiatus in 2013. During this time, Tomoya Shiono pursued a solo career, and his release under the name Sourin was selected as a yearly best album in the Australian music media magazine 'Sounds Better With Reverb'. In 2017, the band reunited to make new music - the album is currently being recorded, with a planned release date for 2019.
Tomoya Shiono (Vo, G, Engineer)
Beyond monocism, Shiono has released under the names Nels, Sourin. He has also prepared compositions for other artists, as well as being used in dramas, films, and an award-winning work featured in the SPACE SHOWER Music Video Awards. He is also an active visual artist and photographer, with his work being shown in a variety of publications including designboom and National Geographic.
Yoshiaki Kitamura (G)
Aside from monocism, Kitamura is a supporting guitarist in a number of other bands. His ability to play in a genre-less fashion or in his own unique way has earned him the trust of other artists. He also works as a guitar teacher and has produced a number of major artists.
