Adam Melchor's oddly sweet and alluring "I Choose You" plays like a contemporary fantasy
AP Track Review
Between the alien tones, sounds like radio transmissions, popping percussion, machine beats turned inside out, orchestral imaginings and distant hand claps that populate Adam Melchor's I Choose You, it is at it's core a chamber poppish acoustic song with intimately spun poetic lyrics. Melchor's vocal performance right up on the mic and (I think) stacked in such a cool way moves the song along and, with all that askew window dressing floating about, you have here wonderful whimsical and, rather, romantic sounding pop song. On one hand, it feels like an odd ball romance, like a contemporary fantasy but on the other, the kind of double time / two step progression hearkens back to 40's Broadway pop. I mean, when the theremin sounds (that might of been there all along) move to the forefront it feels sort of hyper realistic, kind of 1960's Technicolor, kind of art filmsy like it could of been in La La Land. Love the aesthetic on this song, the retro waltz and especially love Melchor's voice and the "sparkle in his eye" poetry.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Adam Melchor is a 24 year old recording artist from New Jersey. In his debut EP The Archer, Adam weaves intensely personal lyrics with colloquial melody to create a vivid yet vulnerable narrative. Carried by his folk guitar playing and impressive vocals, the songs showcase a musical empathy rare for an artist of Adam‘s age and comparable to contemporaries like M. Ward or Conor Oberst.
