Cayley Thomas and the beautiful fractured ethereal pop track "Midnight Hours"

AP Track Review

"You're a friend I never see... you're a long apology" sings singer-songwriter, guitarist Cayley Thomas who hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on her ethereal pop track Midnight Hours. There is something almost surreal in the understated chilly vibe of the song. Maybe it is Thomas' vocal presentation that feels both passionate but a little fractured too like someone who might be temporarily complacent in her circumstance. You can feel it in the almost plodding cadence and sad phrasings. The indie pop flavor is enhanced by warm keys and a chorus that feels both uplifting and falling with soft downbeats and quiet but beautiful drum fills. The bounce of the melodies feel a bit sad but hopeful too (in between the lines). I love the musical break that believes in it's own easy nuances. When the guitar phrasing start and the song builds once more it sounds so beautiful and maybe that is the hope growing and burning into a small fire. This is a track that feels so good in the early morning or late at night.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Cayley Thomas is a singer, guitarist and songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta. Cayley’s upcoming album 'How Else Can I Tell You?' is a collection of songs that reflect upon a period of subconscious overwhelm and the subsequent shift into conscious thought and awareness. Recorded between Edmonton and Toronto, the album combines Hi-Fi studio production and Lo-Fi living room charm.
Cayley just released the lead single "Midnight Hours" - a unique take on simplistic, eccentric pop that's been paired with a video that explores the ability to walk behind the mind’s elaborate set decoration so as to objectively observe one's own thoughts and patterns from a place of curiosity and compassion.
