Galloway's percolating indie rock romance wave sounds on "Boys Like You" from the "Think It Over" EP
AP Track Review
Galloway is an indie pop / rock band based out of Boone, North Carolina and their track Boys Like You from their recently released "Think It Over" EP is instantly on the move with percolating guitar notes and synths. You get the sense that the song is barreling down a runway about to take off. The drums, bass and Lawson Galloway's smooth vox come in all at once and the song soars (early on). The aesthetic has romance and touches of 80's new wave especially in the way the song shifts rhythms, the half time to double time signatures, clean sparkly sound and the essence of that era that is hard to pin down. I thought of different bands with clean yet divergent sounds from then and now, like Haircut 100 and Aztec Camera to Coin and Hippo Campus and even the Drums.
Galloway is Lawson Galloway (vocals), Luca Amedeo (guitar), Robert Redfield (guitar), and Kevin Woicyk (drums).
