"Stupid Kid" from Swedish psyche rockers Phogg twists normal rock conventions into a pretzel

AP Track Review

Stupid Kid by Swedish psyche rock quartet Phogg and from their album "Mofeto: Mashine Adamkosh" is full of surprises. In a sea of rock sameness, it exists as a twisting, shape shifting piece of music that bends conventions. It mixes proggy tones, changing time signatures and free form vocal wails that feel like they would be at home within an underground rap song. The lead break is heavenly and what follows feels like something between an art rock crescendo and the theme song for a TV cop drama. The pretzel logic here is amazing.
