Danish Virtual Band BornByMan and the effervescent "Orange Peel"

AP Track Review

While I listened to the electro poppy Orange Peel by the Danish virtual band BornByMan (created by animated members Leo and M de S (???) I am struck by the sideways blues infused funkiness and the hyper realistic vibe. The production is full of whimsy with art rock legs. I thought of early MGMT and maybe that is partially due to the bounce of the melody but I also feel the animated dynamic of Gorillaz (the Brit virtual band created by Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett). My only criticism of Orange Peel is that it abandons it's world creation too soon. It ends a bit like mistakenly stepping off a curb.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

BornByMan is a Danish virtual band created in 2019 by two animated members Leo and M de S.
We have all become part of the great social experiment, that is, living in the digital age with new communities, status symbols and manipulations. The virtual has become the new reality - also within the music industry. It is in this new reality that the BornByMan virtual band has been created. The two animated members of the band are a personification of the era of social media and comes to life through the contributions of their online followers.
BornByMan's songs focus on inter-reality and the dilemmas that the online presence can create. In this manner, the music questions the essence of human nature in the encounter with technology. This is reflected in the music's dreamy sound, which moves between warm, acoustic tones and cold, mechanical synthesizers.
