The Alien is us on Cars On Mars' (Italy) Official Video for "Summer"

Official Video

The message of Cars On Mars (Italy) video for their latest single Summer is fun but makes a statement too and in a world where countries seem to be locking their doors instead of opening them to strangers, to the others, to the aliens who are increasingly being looked at as interlopers, instead of resources that make each country great, that message is clear.

The band notes (about the video):

Dedicated to every one who's ever come ashore from afar.

In the end, we (at different times in our life) know what is feels to be the outsider. The track with it's off kilter hook descending every 6th note and it's sort of thump kick drum beat and funk driven chorus feels a lot like when New Wave seemed to be infused with Disco and Dance Punk (think Duran Duran), a fusion that has shaped music and countless bands ever since. The vibe and indie rock funk aesthetic will make you smile and shake your hips at the same time. And those syncopated keys sound, well, pretty delicious. The vocals flow with a low burn, but not dead pan tone, the passion feels underneath but contained.

An Alien from another world or dimension has always been the science fiction metaphor for all of us as someone else's alien and, still the lesson about seeing oneself in everyone is still a crucial thing to take in fully and feel.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

FROM THE BAND:
It had been raining for ages when this tune first came up in my mind.
It had been a long winter, summer was late to come and I was really craving for it.
Summer is also that time of the year when thousands of people try to cross the sea to get to better shores. Many fail, and drown.
This song is dedicated to them, and to everyone who's ever come ashore from afar: for real, or metaforically.
Fight and never draw back.
