With a raspy vocal performance that belies his age, Sam Fraser kills on "Painkiller"

Iggy Pop scowls "I'm only five foot one... I got a pain in my heart" on his iconic song Five Foot One. Well, Sam Fraser (UK) singer-songwriter / guitarist may of exclaimed that a several months ago. Today he is five foot two, only 16 years old and pours his pain, hopes and dreams and everything else he can muster into his songs with a passionate raspy vocal howl that belies his youth. His first single of 2020, Painkiller (he released his EP last year) is a soulful rocker with a blues underbelly. Sam's voice is killer on it and while it may mature, the gifts contained in his soul come from somewhere above.

This is a song, mostly like the others I've written, that masks a true love song in a nihilistic and angsty manner. It was inspired by a girl who I know was too good for me and a situation where I knew I would get hurt. It is my first single after having released my debut EP in July 2019. I hope you enjoy it as much as I like singing it.
