Jake Albi tells stories amid jazz rock downbeats on "Bingo Halls" (Hear Me Out)

"

Jake Albi is a busy boy. Besides playing drums in the Bluechips and playing guitar, piano and lead vox in Imposters he writes, records and puts out his solo stuff. He, in fact, just released his sophomore solo album "Snakes"and it walks on and between different genres and flavors. You have the big rock / post punk sound on Mr. Gordon, the ballad story rich A Schoolteacher that has sort of 60's Brit pop affections, the kind of garden rock / honky tonk vibe of Dirty Jim, the blistering heavy blues rock / post punk of Tough Guy and you have the track Bingo Halls (Hear Me Out). Upon first listen, I could not help but think of Steely Dan (a good thing) but Albi keeps the song his own, still telling stories amid sharp jazz rock down beats and potent time signature swaps. His propensity for casting images as you process the lyrics, his tale makes the ride hear kind of dreamy (as well as jammy).

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Jake Albi is a New York based songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who is currently splitting time between his two bands. The Bluechips, in which he plays drums and splits singing duties with guitarist Paul Beladino, and additionally playing guitar/piano/lead vocals in Imposters.
His solo works reflect the more experimental compositions spawning from his home studio where each album is recorded/mixed/mastered, much like a majority of Imposters' releases. Jake first released 'Colors', a demo EP released in 2015 consisting of a more pop punk sound, and performed these songs initially that same year with future members of Imposters (known at the time as Break Down The Walls). Albi had then performed every instrument on the first BDTW album, as he planned for it to be a follow up to Colors, but instead decided to move forward with the new group he had formed.

After a few years away from working on solo material, 'Down The Hall' was put out in the summer of 2018 featuring "Trees" and "Mirrors", the ladder in which would later be re-recorded with The Bluechips.
