Listen to the ever trippy Stardust by Hark Madley and it is absolutely image inducing. It feels so exquisitely cinematic and for me, has a dark sci-fi feel. I guess this makes absolute sense because Hark Madley is the musical project of L.A. based composer and producer Mark Hadley (More Giraffes) whose soundscapes and compositions have contributed to TV shows and graced brands like Apple, Coca Cola, Netflix, Amazon, A24, Lexus, Patron and more.
Hadley with a background in jazz and classical modes is like a aural chemist. The rich twisted and effected sounds on Stardust feel unique and the percussive tones mixed with what feels like ambient sounds from the future draw you in. As the weird tapestry with vox that feel ghosted by robots eventually fall away to more organic sounds, there is (for me) a weird dichotomy of feelings. The organic sounding strings, so very penetrating, feel more dangerous, more strident. I am one to pull meaning from art, from poetry and maybe my take away is that man is always scarier than machine (organic, biological more dangerous than synthetic. You may take away something else entirely. The beauty of musical art like this is that it is a sonic Rorschach test and maybe tomorrow I will see something else.

Hark Madley is the immersive exploration of genre-blending soundscapes realized by Los Angeles based producer and composer Mark Hadley. With a reverence for minimalism and experimentation, Hadley uses his moniker to investigate familiar themes with alluring new sounds. Deep basses, eclectic synths, and kinetic grooves coalesce with organic textures and contemplative vocals to conjure a sonorous lushness, rich in subtlety and warmth.
After releasing his debut “EP1” in 2018, Hadley released a series of ambient works in 2019 and is now back with the first single from his upcoming LP, The Future Is The Question!
Hadley also composes music for film and television, and is one half of the left-of-center pop outfit More Giraffes.
Originally from Rochester, NY, Hadley has been writing music since a young age. Along with his affinity for unearthing new sounds, Hadley’s studies of jazz and classical music have served as the backdrop to his musical output. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2011, Hadley began his career working for composer Gabriel Mann, contributing to TV shows like Modern Family and Rectify, earning an ASCAP award for his work on ABC Family’s “Twisted” in 2015. Hadley has also composed music for brands including Apple, Coca Cola, Netflix, Amazon, A24, Lexus, Patron and more.
