The German alternative folk duo Stereo Naked are rather naked musically. Their spartan sound fueled by a bass, banjo and vocal harmonies is less rather than more but the more (and their is a lot here) is their songs and perspective, their delivery. Listen to the track Sanity with the tightly would musicality and vocals and the sense of movement is formidable. The lyrics and lovely, lovely understated vocal aesthetic is super engaging and the quiet subtle motif lets you absorb the often sardonic yet tender words, "the rats have long left the sinking ship".
Love the textures, the kind of proto alt folk aesthetic and the surprises along the way. Their debut album is called "Roadkill Highway" and I look forward to delving further into Stereo Naked's thoughts and imaginings.

Stereo naked, a double bass, a banjo, harmony vocals. And then the restlessness and then the heart. Julia Zech and Pierce Black are constantly on the go, what performances they have played since their debut "Roadkill Highway" appeared is like a marathon. Her music, a mixture of folk and indie, in which girlish charm clashes with dark cynicism and yodelling odes to love no longer know.
Each song is a little hand-made story that never gets lost in phrases you stick to, for three minutes or much longer. What Stereo Naked create is their shared passion, namely to get the bluegrass out of its niche and to use it with emotional songwriting unpretentiously, but concisely and touchingly for a wide audience.
What the two do there has no calculus, it jumps out of one breast and into the next. Without filter. Exactly how the two are and sound.
