TheWorst's sharp alternative intensity of "Blacksheepish" moves divergently

Blacksheepish by three piece alternative rock / post punk  TheWorst is a heavy, jagged barrage of rock fueled by staggered guitars and drums and songwriter Brooke Binion's coarse sandpaper vox. To say that her performance, her vocal or overall aesthetic here is wound up would be a huge understatement. Besides the absolute rocking going on, there is a sense of dramatic artistry too and for some unknown reason I thought of Faith No More, obviously not comparing styles but in intensity and a sense of divergent movements within the art. My mind sometimes makes odd connections but I digress.  Blacksheepish is the first peak at the band's new material since their critically acclaimed debut album "Jane Doe Embryo" (2017) but they are once again in the studio and working on another album as noted in their press notes:

Currently the band is back at Chillhouse Studios with Will Holland after the band took an almost year long hiatus in order for Brooke Binion to enter into recovery after a decades long battle with drugs, addiction and depression. The album is slated for a fall 2020 release date (RascalZRecordZ).

Our hearts go out to Binion but also a big congrats. It may be cliche to say that art comes out of pain but, quite frankly, it often times does. We hope the following record serves as a powerful catharsis. I can only imagine the heavy heavenly and caustic rock we are in store for.

Blacksheepish was produced by Will Holland (Pixies, Fall Out Boy).

TheWorst is songwriter/lyricist Brooke Binion, Benbazi, formerly of Boombazi and the LA recording artist Beatnik JR on drums and bassist Will Bradford, leader of the anti-genre indie rock pranksters SeepeopleS. They hail from Portland, Oregon.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

theWorst is a three piece rock band from Portland, Maine. Tapping into post-teen angst with threads of third-wave feminism, the shreddy power anthems that comprise the TheWorst's debut album are a jolt of brutal honesty and unadulterated emotion, fueled by a massive wall of distorted sound that throws back to Dinosaur Jr., L7, Mudhoney and even Nirvana. The band is led by front-woman and songwriter/lyricist Brooke Binion, and their sound is rounded out by drummer Benbazi, formerly of Boombazi and the LA recording artist Beatnik JR, and bassist Will Bradford, leader of the anti-genre indie rock pranksters SeepeopleS. The sound these two seasoned veterans create is both powerful, engaging and decidedly different, something truly rare in today's modern rock scene. For Jane Doe Embryo, theWorst's debut album, the band enlisted the help of producer Will Holland, best known for his work with the Pixies, Dead Can Dance, and Fall Out Boy. The album was recorded at the legendary Chillhouse Studios in Boston MA and received wide critical acclaim. (read a review here) In their short time as a band, TheWorst have shared the stage with The Svetlanas, Rough Francis, The Queers and Zex, have been featured at the Millennium Music Conference 2016, won Best New Artist (Portland Phoenix 2017) and have been touring Coast to Coast since 2016 Currently the band is back at Chillhouse Studios with Will Holland after the band took an almost year long hiatus in order for Brooke Binion to enter into recovery after a decades long battle with drugs, addiction and depression. The album is slated for a fall 2020 release date (RascalZRecordZ). The band has just released the first single, "Blacksheepish," which is available now on all streaming platforms.
