TOLEDO's stone built "Lovely" indie pop love song with barking dogs and more

"it's lovely too"

I seem to love everything TOLEDO puts out. Their amazing songs have ended up on AP quite a bit. Sometimes you just have this deep affinity for a sound, for artists in particular. Sometimes I have this connection because songs make me kind of sad (yeah, I know) but in the case of TOLEDO, the Brooklyn based indie project of Daniel Alvarez de Toledo and Jordan Dunn-Pilz, it is because their songs (often times) make me happy. This is not to say that there is this not an undercurrent of sadness in a lot of what they do. I think there is. Either that or it is tenderness and I am confusing the two (ha). I do know that they have the ability to easily make me feel something. Their track Lovely is a simple but compelling indie pop affair with stream of consciousness sounding lyrics that are beautiful. It is at it's core a love song that shows all it's blemishes too, making it even more endearing. The musical structure and breaks and that fading up beat make me smile in a big way as does the ambient sounds in the background. Love me some TOLEDO (again).

"Lovely is our attempt at a happy song. Its a song is about meeting someone that makes you see the world differently. We do our best to have as much fun as possible when recording, and here that resulted in barking dogs, glitching guitars, and lots of ad libbing."
