Lazylazy sits squarely in the punchy power pop pocket on "Pocket"

When I listen to Pocket by Lazylazy (a band from Brooklyn) I instantly thought of Lou Reed. They don't sound like Reed but that hard to escape tug on the ear is on account of a sort of guitar back and forth slide reminiscent of Walk on the Wild Side. Because Lazylazy sounds so kind of power pop-esque, that ever so faint audio trigger is neither here nor there. It is not a rip off at all but, instead, pulls you into the song in a very cool way (whether a homage or not) and, let me be clear, the overall sound here is just plain fucking cool. The chunky heavy guitar, potent dissonant screaming lead lines and hooky vocal melodies make you feel like you are ascending into some nice place up above the muck of this life.

Pocket is from the "Buddy" EP out now.
