Edinburgh, Scotland's SALT and the bitter post punk dreams of "Cellophane"

"I gave you everything I had"

SALT hail from Edinburgh, Scotland and their track, Cellophane, (to me) conjures up tight sweaty clubs with the haze and smell of a fog machine cast in blue light. The song has a kind of vast late 80's post punk flavor with an instantly catch guitar line and vocals that are both syrupy smooth but barbed by Sharon (The Ruby Suit). Their artwork aesthetic on some of their work look a bit ghoulish and dark, maybe illusions to a dark fable-eque thing in their songs or maybe even horror:

"I wont blink now
Blind and Deaf
Wrapped in Cellophane"

"A backwards rush
I gave you everything I had
But not enough
You wrap me up in Cellophane"

I will hope that the song is a huge metaphor or, in the least, grown out of a fetish and not anything darker. In the end it is art after all, and the song is supremely catchy.

Details indicate that Salt features members from the late 80s’ “The Ruby Suit” and “Vatican Shotgun Scare”.
