Lukas Ionesco creates a small art folk masterpiece in "Sorry" beautiful in it's loneliness

"I am just an idiot kid, that's what I am"

Maybe one of the things that good art does is to pull you out of your existence, your life for the brief moment that you let it overtake you. Thanks Lukas Ionesco (French singer-songwriter, guitar player, actor, director) for doing that for me. As I watched his latest Official Video for his track Sorry I got pulled into the subtle debauchery. Ioneco's videos feel like preening, like moving selfies comprised of fashion and anti-fashion, life as surfacy and sort of sad, life as fashion which is the saddest of all, in that regard they play like Andy Warhol films and like Warhol, is all done so artfully, in cinematic ways. At 3:23 Ionesco's smiles faintly but it is genuine, it breaks the facade of it all as if he knows it is an act, maybe life is an act.

Apart from the psycho-babble I just engaged in, close your eyes and the song stands on it's own. It is super alluring. I get it, or rather I connect with it like other songs by this young man. I like how they are sort of classic in the sense that they are not adopting the indie music tropes of the day. They just are, like Jack White songs, real and free from trends. Sorry is a beautiful song in it's loneliness. I really love it and the escapist video let me briefly escape a particularly sad morning.
