Ran Pink's sweet runaway indie pop sound of "A Long Time" from the eclectic "Guilty Pleasures" album
"the creme is in the center"
A Long Time from Ran Pink's eclectic album "Guilty Pleasures" maybe be one itself... a guilty pleasure that is. It is a supremely produced piece of indie rock with pop affections. Ran knows how to write bouncy melodies for sure but it is (for me) the urgency and artful passion in his vocal aesthetic that moves the already runaway song in emotional ways. The track is, however, saturated with a surreal gleam. Over-produced, I dunno, maybe to me but not in terms of too many sounds getting in the way of the heart of the song. Loving the bass movement here and the nuances that float around in the background. In some way it reminds me of the kind of all inclusive pop sound that Tears for Fears was so good at rendering and that is a great thing.

Ran Pink is a grammy nominated music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer based in Los Angeles, California.
He is the owner of Fonogenic Studios, where he has collaborated, recorded, engineered, and produced various artists from The Wallflowers, David Grohl, Band of Horses, Pete Yorn, Taylor Hawkins, to Don Was, Alan Parsons, Kris Kristofferson and Priscilla Presley for the BBC.
Shortly after leaving Berklee School of Music in 1997, Ran Pink’s career in music took a leap forward when his band Mankind Liberation Front was signed to RCA in 1998. Since then, he has formed several music projects such as Remote, with his brother Tal Pink, and Pink & Noseworthy, a trio consisting of Shanee Pink and guitarist Mark Noseworthy (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros).
As of late Ran acted as the mixing engineer and co-producer on the grammy nominated albums for modern jazz big band Monk’estra’s Volume 1 and Volume 2.
In 2018 he released "Therapy" EP. His first solo release. His song "Modern Work Of Art" was picked up by blogs and Spotify playlists.
In his first solo release “Therapy” Ran Pink delivers an ambient tour de force. Lush, multilayered grooves take the listener on a profoundly soulful journey. Fans of Zero7, and Air will be delighted as the veteran SoCal music producer simultaneously takes us down palm-lined sunset streets and dystopian future dreamscapes. It’s nice to finally see him giving himself (and us) some much needed “Therapy”
He's recently collaborated with artist Kid Bloom with new music coming out in 2020.
In 2020, amidst the quarantine, Ran finished the songs from the past 2 years and made the album "Guilty Pleasures". It's an eclectic mix of Ran's favorite vintage flavors with an indie dreamlike emotional kick. Ran explores the piano a bit more than usual here, going back to his roots as a musical kid who started on the keys.
