All Things Blue cuts a lush hallucinogenic groove on "Dicking Around" (Official Video)

"attempting to escape my senses"

The track Dicking Around by dream punk band All Things Blue has been bouncing around in my head for weeks. There is something about the sound and the vocal performance by frontwoman India Coombs. If any of you are old enough to remember Baz Luhrmann's 1966 movie "William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet" (often shortened to Romeo + Juliet), you might remember what a killer soundtrack it had. It was very eclectic and, in my humble opinion, the best thing about the movie. I love that collection of songs and Dicking Around feels like it could, would of graced that soundtrack. It might be the very dominant pop drenched vibe while feeling anti-pop or, again, Coombs vocal aesthetic that feels timelessly sort of trippily bohemian (if not hallucinogenic). The rich production with droning synths and super engaging bass line is dazzling (like super dazzling).

Coombs', partner in crime (yeah I actually wrote that) is L.A. based (by way of Allentown, Pennysylvania bassist / producer Jon Joseph. Of the track, Coombs shares:
"The phenomenon Edgar Allen Poe once coined 'the imp of the perverse' rang true to me as a strong parallel of the tone in Dicking Around. The mind can be surprising without what feels like the ability to help it. I wrote this as a wrap for thoughts of acting on my own worst impulses despite recognizing they’re naughty hehe."

All Things Blue's debut album "Get Bit" drops October 2nd.
