"I feel nothing at all, it's a perfect crawl"
The Most Animal by the musical outfit or person or music project called Butterfly made my weird antennae stand straight up. And that is ok. It is also ok that the submission came to my electronic desk with out the slightest bit of back story, artist bio or relevant links, no Instagram, nothing. I do have the following:
Butterfly is the story of an artist with amnesia trapped in the internet: told through song, video, and webportals.
Butterfly caught in an internet, I get it. I don't mind the highbrow / low brow joke because there is a lot to like here, in this song that is. The divergent guitar feels pretty dirty like Corgan-esque in tone, the drums sadly feel like the are fake and too much in the box but the vocal aesthetic and time signature shifts kill. I love the overall art punk squared aesthetic. Like it a lot, a whole lot.
