Mel Bryant & the Mercy Makers' power pop punch and blistering rock on "Mary / Martha"

"Mary Beth, she's got this way about her, she can wave her hair and make him swoon"

Nashville based indie rock band Mel Bryant & the Mercy Makers just released their self titled debut album and the track Mary / Martha (a biblical reference to Mary and Martha of Bethany competing for Jesus' affections) feels like a modern relationship song with blistering rock and roll ascensions progressively wrapping around Bryant's vocals that are powerful yet adorned with a beautiful bite. The punch with power pop melodies has a touch of late 80's affections.

The band is comprised of lovers and friends and as press notes reveal:

[The four musicians moved together from Philly and New York to settle in East Nashville where they run their own recording studio, Electric Church Records, and work as the backing band for various local artists including the Billboard approved Katie Ruvane and major label artist Chaz Cardigan, who have each garnered millions of streams on Spotify.]
