The Bruno Heinen Trio's spider like bass crawl, prescient piano and splayed drum work on "Homecoming"

"twack"

The Bruno Heinen Trio based in the UK features bassist Andrea Di Biase (Kenny Wheeler), acclaimed US drummer Gene Calderazzo (Pharoah Sanders) and Heinen on piano. The track Homecoming from Heinen's new album "Out of Doors" is part of a rich whole, an original suite, the starting point was the eight Hungarian folk melodies used by Bela Bartók in his 1920 composition 8 Improvisations Op. 20.

The spider like bass that crawls, the prescient keys are so rich as massaged and the splaying drum work, full of persistent and divergent flourishes is a thing of beauty.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

The Bruno Heinen Trio features Italian bassist Andrea Di Biase (Kenny Wheeler), and acclaimed US drummer Gene Calderazzo (Pharoah Sanders). An original suite, the starting point for Out of Doors was the eight Hungarian folk melodies used by Bela Bartók in his 1920 composition 8 Improvisations Op. 20. A particular passion for Duke Ellington’s Money Jungle, Alice Coltrane's Journey in Satchidananda, Chick Corea's Now he Sings Now he Sobs, and the piano music of Ligeti and Ravel has also informed my writing of the piece.
