The Nursery pushes a glam affectionate art rock come on in "Radium Girls" (Official Video)

Radium Girls by Toronto's The Nursery is an unabashed come on of a song. Drawn with 'an outstretched arm' theatricality and doused with art rock and glam affections it feels like a glossy, smeared lipstick version of a 50's tragedy pop song pushed through both proto punk and 80's new wave filters. The big hyper realistic sound (with killer vox) put out by this three piece artful outfit who met at a recording session in a converted monastery in Buffalo, New York is formidable and escapist in a grand way. Comprised of Toronto born lead singer and songwriter Alex Pulec, synth player Victor Ess and Buffalo native, drummer Josh English, press notes indicate that The Nursery are "influenced by a wide range of styles, from New Order and The Cure's gothic new wave to rock maximalists like Electric Light Orchestra and Queen".

The Official Video is sick perf..., I mean pitch perfect. Love it. It is perfectly odd and fits the track well as directed by Genevieve Blais (with assistance by Alex Pulec) and amazing cinematography by James Featherstone and Michael Greggain (Deep Field Productions).

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, the Nursery managed to combine youth's darker themes of death, sex, anxiety and fear with ethereal and technicolored alt-rock music. The three-piece met at a recording session in a converted monastery in Buffalo, New York. Lead singer and songwriter Alex Pulec and synth player Victor Ess were born in Toronto and met through the city's punk scene while drummer Josh English was a Buffalo native.

Influenced by a wide range of styles, from New Order and The Cure's gothic new wave to rock maximalists like Electric Light Orchestra and Queen, they effortlessly apply their pop-influenced hooks and melodies to the lush and driving backdrops they create. The Nursery exists where darkness and light intersect.
