"giant lies on your fucking bus"
There is calm political discourse and then there is Blackpook, UK's Those Fucking Snowflakes, "a vibrant clash of political punk, hardcore and math rock... as a means to scream the dread and horror faced in these confusing times of our modern society". I actually love their self descriptor and while I might argue that our society is so fucked up right now that I can't think of it as 'modern' I champion their visceral mission statement.
On their biting, caustic ‘Boris Johnson and the Big Red Bus of Bullshit’, from their EP "Straight Wealthy White Male Suffrage", the boys vent their rage and frustration with Donald Trump's "great guy" Boris Johnson and his propensity to stretch his vision of the truth like salt water taffy (does this sound familiar?) The track that veers into grungy art rock affections is informed by the Brexit debacle and the lies told by all involved with Vote Leave. The band offers:
"It focuses on Boris’ insane claims written on the side of the side of a bus to trick the general public into thinking leaving the EU would be of any benefit whatsoever, the only thing the NHS have received so far from Boris is ‘claps’. It touches upon his casual xenophobic remarks and general incompetence too."
The feral bus crashing song, at the end, falls into bits of psychedelia as the boys refrain hits falsettos, "Fuck you, fuck you Boris Johnson... fuck your bullshit Brexit bus" and is a thing of fucking beauty. The band created a lyric video so you do not miss a word.

Those Fucking Snowflakes are a vibrant clash of political punk, hardcore rock and math rock, a band formed as a means to scream the dread and horror faced in these confusing times of our modern society. From the current mess of the UK political system to the intolerance of, well, everything. From race and gender to such simple items as Greggs releasing a Vegan Sausage Roll, the band are shouting about it backed with a tight unique sound and occasional off kilter humour.
Those Fucking Snowflakes released thier debut song ‘Stop Being Dickheads To Each Other’ in October which quickly gained a massive amount of support from Tom Robinson at BBC 6music. Tom fought hard to get an otherwise ‘unsuitable for radio’ band onto the airwaves via 6music. He even invited them down to the BBC Introducing Festival to do a quick guest spot with Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods during his panel.
The song gained a good bit of traction with the band being featured on sites from When The Horn Blows, Joyzine, Overblown and many more as well as airplay on other stations.
The band really come into their own in a live setting though, having played over 30 shows in their first year of gigs, starting in April 2019 , the tight and explosive live performance has gained them many new fans across the country and shows no sign of slowing up.
