Russell Patterson and the orchestrated melancholia of "Fragile Situation"
" got out of the game"
Russell Patterson is a singer songwriter, musician from the Pacific Northwest. Sometimes songs stick to your gut for some intangible reason and this is the case for me of Patterson's broken orchestration of "Fragile Situation". I do love the pedal steel guitar and heartbreaking strings (violin, cello, viola), the somber piano and Patterson's vocal aesthetic that feels like his eyes are staring into endless mirrors pitched at odd angles so they only show parts of his reflection. I do love all those things but it is those other things that I love to that I cannot put my finger on.
"Melancholy song about addiction/recovery."
