KOYO and the contained post punk explosion of "Walking On Air" (Official Wonderfully Weird Video)

"...spare me the passion it's out of fashion"

KOYO have just released the wonderfully weird video for their latest fiery track “Walking On Air” filmed by Joe Collinson, showcasing their musical prowess and personality. This Leeds band has 2 albums under their belt, the latter “You Said It” having been released this past June. This new track revs up with chaotic and urgent energy, tightly wound and exploding with sound. The video sort of illustrates what the lyricism drives at; the sociologically poignant point that some folks have been ingrained with a tendency to bottle emotions and put on a show rather than have integrity and be real. The track is well produced by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spector) to amplify the nuanced and crisp sound you’ll hear. Watch the video and listen to “Walking On Air.” Jacob, your makeup looks great.

“Radiohead meets Hawkwind” - GUARDIAN

"Chaotic and urgent energy, tightly wound and exploding with sound" - AMERICAN PANCAKE

“Expansive yet infectious, this interstellar debut is the dawning of space pop”- LOUDER THAN WAR

Formed in Leeds in 2015, KOYO have fast become a major factor in the city’s burgeoning music scene. Tagged with the prog-psych rock label, for a young band, they are in fact proficient, reflective and utterly self-effacing. True, some of their songs are longer and they are well schooled in music – literally. But KOYO wear their versatility and charm very lightly indeed.

A powerful live force, KOYO create sonic spectacles through soaring layers of sound. Based on their electric live performance they were selected to open the BBC Introducing Stage at the 2017 Reading and Leeds festivals, the latter resulting in a mention in the Guardian Online review. In 2018, they followed up with critically acclaimed performances at Rockaway Beach Festival, Live at Leeds, Camden Rocks, Sheffield Tramlines and the Download festival (and favourably reviewed in Prog magazine)

Their eponymous debut album was released in September 2017 to critical acclaim receiving outstanding press reviews in Q Magazine, Classic Rock Magazine, Planet Rock Magazine, Prog Magazine and Louder than War. The album also made the Top 25 albums of 2017 in Classic Rock, Prog Magazine and Louder than War at #24, #19 and #21 respectively.

In 2019 they have continued to release singles (Before and Circles) which have received both regional and national (UK) radio play. They toured and recently played a number of festivals including The Rambling Man Fair and Bingley Weekender.

In 2020 KOYO have been extremely busy. They released 2 further singles, 'Ostracised' and 'You Said It' and finally released their highly sought after 'Live at RAK' CD, previously only available as a merch item. In June they released their highly anticipated sophomore studio album together with brand new single 'Out of Control'.They set out on a UK tour in 2021 - COVID-19 willing.
