Westerner and the lush wildly pushed genre blending of "Yesferatu"

"he senses your psychic bond"

There is so much lush, deliciousness in L.A. based psyche rock band Westerner's latest "Yesferatu" that you might not notice it all because you will likely be dancing 10 seconds in. The sexy walking bass line that pulls up disco vibes, the sprite dominant drums, the funky ass guitar and Cooper Bombadil's deep stare vox wash over you and when the slowly picking sort of spaghetti western guitar comes in (which later seriously jams against that sexy bass line that suddenly feels like it is breakdancing) I got such a mind bending amalgam of sounds, of funk meets 80's new wave meets cinematic post rock and more. For whatever reason I flashed on INXS, you all remember INXS, Massive Attack and Scissors Sister all together (yeah, I know that's weird).

[Driven by lead vocalist Cooper Bombadil, Westerner would be incomplete without Mike Gattshall (drums), Brandon Valerino (bass & vocals) and Javier Olmedo (guitar). Cooper started Westerner after he wrote and recorded their debut album ‘Unreal City’, a sci-fi rock opera composed of surreal sounds, and strange characters. He then formed a band to play the music live. After learning the material, the band collaborated on new songs. Over the years, Westerner has developed an explosive live show and a devoted ‘cult like’ following.]
