I suppose growing up with such a cool name as Lake Stovall you would absolutely be destined to grow up to be a creative. I am taken aback by Lake's vocal aesthetic on "Lace" that is part grit and part pure smooth flow. The sparse production highlights that frame that flow and the passion contained within it is what fuels this engaging work and, again, Lake's voice is the intoxicant.
AND, I might add, those minimal chord structures, they work because Lake picked the exact right chords and display them with little fan fare thus making them shine in a pure way.
Find myself having this track on play over and over again and lost in the chill-

[THESSENCE]
American singer-songwriter and producer Lake Stovall releases new single "Lace" via Lekker Collective.
Lace is about craving that intimacy
“Lemme feel more than them lips, lemme feel more than a kiss, you gon’ make me take a trip, when I get there, we gon run run run”
There’s also the concept of, does intimacy necessarily equal love? Becoming a singer-songwriter has forced me to neglect certain aspects of my social life and it has forced these kinds of dialogues within myself.
“Busy so I know I’ve been away, busy cuz I’m workin on my thangs”.
This record becomes the representation of a conversation with my inner self. Craving all the things that are “supposed” to bring love into a relationship and learning along the way. - Lake Stovall

Originally a dancer, the Virginia native moved to San Francisco to study sound design and production, working his way from freestyling and dancing in battles to producing for other artists, as well as making music under his own name.
Collaborations with heavyweights such as Ryan Hemsworth and B. Lewis (with whom he formed duo project TESSA.) is a testament to his star quality.
