Quiet Takes and the lush distillation of "San Fidel"

I appreciate music that puts you in a different headspace and the title track of Quiet Takes' upcoming EP "San Fidel" is a dreamy unspoiled travelogue. It is both spartan and lush. The lusciousness is primarily hinged on singer songwriter Sarah Magill's melodies and winsome vocal aesthetic. The song is beautifully chill with jazz rock affections that, in spots, made me think of Steely Dan in it's utterly exquisite nature. A mixture of cool elegance and groove, it is a pristine musical distillation of what is inside Magill's head and heart.

Sarah Magill first solo EP was as MYRY released in 2018 but in 2020 she became Quiet Takes which seems to fit the Midwestern introvert. "San Fidel", the EP drops March 5th.

Songwriter Sarah Magill is a Midwestern introvert who makes music for feelers as Quiet Takes.

Magill’s first solo EP was released under the name MYRY in late 2018. Ahem emerged from a series of writing experiments with producer David Bennett (Akkilles) and was be re-released under the Quiet Takes name in December 2020.

In the quarantine-spring of 2020, Quiet Takes released the stripped-down single ”Wanted (The Dirty Windshield Version)” as a teaser for a new EP, San Fidel, coming March 5, 2021.

Magill is also a founding member and active collaborator in RubiX, a multidisciplinary performance collective based in Kansas City.

"Stunning, meditative.” – Audiofemme

On San Fidel Midwestern introvert Sarah Magill wraps threads of intimate, soft-focus synth-pop, minimal breaks, and uplifting piano ballads snugly around our bruised psyches. Her languid, captivating vocals slide gracefully from woozy coo to ethereal shimmer. As Magill calls it, Quiet Takes is “music for feelers.”

Artists often create work that proves prescient. With San Fidel, Quite Takes has delivered a soundtrack to the process of learning to sit with loneliness and longing. While no one anticipated those would be lessons learned globally, we are luck to have San Fidel to help guide us through.
