Altre di B and the frenetic joyous punkery of "Green tea tiramisù"

"I'll relocate, I'll relocate and see what's out there."

Altre di B ("a vintage name that comes from the matches not included in the B leagues football betting") is a divergent post punk band from Bolgna, Italy and their track "Green tea tiramisù" is a punchy slice of frenetic punkery with both hard and soft edges. The strident bright guitar offset by a snaking bass line and sideways drumming is truly delightful. There are, for me, sounds that hearken back to proto punk, proto indie rock twists of late 70's outfits like Television and Gang of Four.

"This song is about our friend Vittorio Marchetti, who raises his left arm to get out of difficult situations or strenuous conversation. And flies away like a superhero."

Altre di B are and, as the boys say, will always be Giacomo, Andrea, Giovanni and Alberto.

Since its debut in 2011, the indie rock band altre di B - a vintage name that comes from the matches not included in the B leagues’ football betting- has secured a place in the flourishing scene of its hometown Bologna, mixing the inventiveness and the energy of post-punk combined with a strong euphoric dime sion. The result is a nervous, surprising and jubilant rock.

After numerous self-released issues containing the Panini ® stickers of B league teams, the band released its debut album There’s a million better bands and began a long tour between Italy and Europe. Following this release, the band integrated an array of synth keyboards, expanding their sonic horizons which led to the releases of the albums Sport (2014; self) and Miranda! (2017; Black Candy Records). Several tours between North America and Canada followed, as well as attendance at the international festival Primavera Sound, SXSW, Sziget and Europavox, and performing on Quelli che il calcio TV program.

When this chapter concluded, altre di B spent most of their time in a converted barn as a rehearsal room, an environment that revolutionized their approach to songwriting and influenced a new sound course, extracting a mixture of post-punk styles, jangle and twee. This circumstance, along with embellishments by collaboration with Luca Lovisetto (Baseball Gregg) and attitude of producer Bruno Germano, led to the new album, out on Spring 2021 (We Were Never Being Boring, Costello's).
