Karina and the sad surreal dream celebration of "2000" (Official Video)

"when you had your fifteenth birthday you celebrated it by leaving me"

Finnish dream pop duo Karina release a beautiful piece of surreal cinema in the "2000" music video directed, scripted, produced and edited by Joona Möttö with cinematography by Iris Kärkkäinen and starring Sonja Kuittinen and Jessica Piasecki. The soundscape here is stunning and from the onset you feel as if you stepped through a multi-colored waterfall of powerful post punk tones. The song falls away to quiet places riding on Karin Mäkiranta's beautifully pained vox and spartan guitar, Helmi Tikkanen's endearing bass, other sounds and a layered harmonious vocal wash. The quiet / loud formula, the lush beautiful pained wails and waves of sound are so incredibly dreamy. Möttö's script and direction feels like a familial fable or parable turning on supernatural twists. Sad and broken with reflections on the pain of fate it is moving midnight movie and features English subtitles.

The "2000" music video celebrates the 1 year anniversary of Karina's second album ’2’ (2020).
