Макет's Norma Jean and Laura Palmer amalgam "Норма"

"Погоня начинается со слова «нельзя»."

"Hopma" by the Russian alternative noise rock band Maket has a sound anchored in concrete. It is a bit caustic but not overly so, there is a rabid quality but, then again, different post rock, heavy rock colors, propelled by big down beats and furious drumming, shape shift the track. The breaks, held together, via catchy double time guitar and bending lead lines are very cool. I get a sense of 90's rock with deep falls into post rock / art rock dreaminess of any generation. The vocal aesthetic is punk, post punk, razor blade cut screams that can turn softer from time to time. The band shares:

"Hopma"is a mystical song about a girl who combines two characters: Norma Jean and Laura Palmer.

Oh, and the fact that the song is sung in Russian only adds to the allow but then I sometimes love to watch foreign films with the English subtitles off.

Макет has released the first LP «Бэкграунд» on 24.02.2021 via Pulp Fiction Records.
