"I cut my heart in two several pieces just for you..."
"In the Mirror" is from Benedikt's sophomore full length "Balcony Dream" dropping today, April 16th on Koke Plate. The nine piece Norwegian folk indie collaborative never seem to falter. They are able to coalesce folk that feels at once drenched in dream pop-esque flavors but also feel incredibly intimate in tone and textures. While "In the Mirror" opens with hushed beautiful admissions, it runs at a frenetic pace, a pace that is almost impossible to keep up with. The sensation is exhilarating but there is a sense of drama as well contained in the sprite folk orchestrations. As upbeat as the chorus is the song is informed by heavy things as the group shares:
"In The Mirror, sonically the most upbeat song on the album, is a personal story of friendship. The lyrics are about a close friend of the band who got severely injured after a drowning accident. Wrapped in fast-paced drums and dark, atmospheric orchestration, it explores hazy, adolescent memories and the joys and struggles of growing up together." --- Benedikt
Cinematic, pensive and alluring in the dramatic imagery it conjures up, Benedikt's "In The Mirror" transports you to a place of youthful indiscretions held together, saved by love.

A 9-piece indie/folk-group. Sophomore ´Balcony Dream' album set to release April 16th.
Balcony Dream is an album of memories. It’s a sober salute of all the things we dwell upon as human beings - nostalgia, past love, dysfunctional relations and other ambiguities of life. All well covered topics in the folk music tradition, but dressed up in unconventional and playful arrangements and production. We want our music to sound both familiar and otherworldly at the same time, which we feel like we’ve really managed this time
