Melk and the perfect splash in the face, reality bites "Let's Pretend This Never Happened"

"let's forget this loveless mess..."

Washington, DC based indie rock band Melk has managed to write the perfect song for, um, stepping back, stepping back from anything really although they say that "Let's Pretend This Never Happened" is "An upbeat surfy song about meeting someone, going on 5 dates with them, and then realizing that they kinda suck" but think of the possibilities, business relationships, one night stands, foul stinky marriages, ineffective band managers and horrible one sided record deals. The track moves at a nice clip with jangly guitars and sounds jubilant in it's candor. It talks about the delusional crap we all partake in, the "façade of happiness" that makes us hang on too long... that insidious, stupid masochistic impulse that you can readily witness on any episode of 90 Day Fiancé. Melk's lyrics are really funny and really deep at the same time.
