The Jupiter Effect pushed through the darkness on "The Journey" (Official Video)

"I'd rather die than live in chains..."

The Jupiter Effect is from Austria and their descriptor on their Facebook page says it all simply: 'Progressive Stoner Rock from Vienna' although judging them from their impressive stomping head banger "The Journey", they don't feel stonerish. The theme, after all on this track can be summed up in their refrain, "I'd rather die than live in chains" and while you can pick what kind of chains are holding you back from living fully, that line (to be serious just for a moment) is what has fueled the most impactful social justice movements since the beginning of time.

While the Official Video feels beautifully dark, the band says "The Journey" is inspired by the cartoon "An American Tail", by the story of Fievel Mousekewitz and yes, that did make me smile and does seem like a 'stoner' thought (I suppose) but it is truly an inspirational story nonetheless:

"Figuratively, it deals with letting go, leaving home, fleeing the boundaries and shackles of oppression and heading towards an uncertain future. The Journey is full of peril and danger, but the promise of a safe haven and a bright future inspires you to keep on pushing and fighting."

The Jupiter Effect brings this story home with powerful heavy metal downbeats, seriously cool squealing lead lines with guitar harmonies as rhythm flourishes, a ferocious and majestic galloping cadence punched through by powerful drumming, tasty lead breaks, and the appropriate amount of broken glass vox. It is serious head banging fodder with an inspiring message.
