Discount Therapy and the operatic dark anger art pop blooded "You Really Fucked Me"

"My paranoia turned out to be real life..."

"You Really Fucked Me" is a weird pop song. Stylistically it feels oddly baroque in it's posture, a kind of broken teen mythological dramatic opera of sorts with Marshall Mathers classicalisms popping through. It feels dark wave-ish too but via bedroom dark pop, very internal and in the box (so to speak), lo-fi contemplations, a rant, a fuck you song, brooding, anger art pop. The artist, author is Discount Therapy and that name says it all. Great name. Of this track he shares:

"2021 has so far been a waterslide of a year. It started out fun and exciting, but then when I hit the bottom I realized I was in a pool full of human piss. The drama, the intrigue, the betrayal. Sad boy times have commenced, no prescription necessary."

It is funny, as I listened to this expression of, um, well, swimming in a pool of human piss, I hated it at times and I loved it at times. Oh, and I listened to it several times. That is a good sign. DT's vocal aesthetic intrigues me and with an elevated production, "You Really Fucked Me" could easily grace a movie soundtrack or a Netflix (or other cable) series about betrayal. There are currently about 100 such series about betrayal. I could, in fact, see this track (as is) within the confines of a series like 'Cruel Summer' on Freeform.
