Eve Minor and the sharp edges of "Amber Eyez"

"Tell me you love me first... I'm begging you, save me"

The last time we featured the shape shifting singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Eve Minor she was based in NYC and pushing gothic shaped horror pop buttons but this time she is L.A. based and her latest "Amber Eyez" is steeped in more of a pop forward framework with touches of neosoul and R&B indie tones. No matter what the genre, what the flavor, Minor infuses all her art with the dark recesses of her life, her situation, always riding a razor's edge of emotions and "Amber Eyez", the story of "two broken people coming together and eventually apart", is no exception. The scattered percussive sounds feel off balance, like walking on egg shells, and when they drop out, to just reveal a kick drum, it feels like a heartbeat. Minor's vocal aesthetic feels lost, standing at a door with a breakdown on the other side. The bridge falls away into a filmic spoken word like a clip from a dramatic play that plays real.

Eve Minor is a multi instrumentalist/Composer/Audio specialist out of Los Angeles. Amber Eyez is a song which mixes witch house textures with R&B sensibilities and emotive vocals depicting the tale of a tragic romance. The sample is linked to Minor's hip hop enthusiasm and shows influence from the Dipset era of hip hop with a high pitched vocal line sampled throughout the piece. the R&B chord textures pave the mood for a emotional vocal delivery discussing a former flame immortalized in the track under the pseudonym "Amber Eyez". The somber melody in the verses set the mood for the lyricism and story telling of two broken people coming together and eventually apart. Eve Minor openly discusses her problems with addiction, self esteem, mental health and channels it in her craft and artistic work. The bridge of Amber Eyez, has a very classic monologue that is cinematic in production effect taking the listener on a journey into Minor's pysche.

"Tell me you love me first... I'm begging you, save me"

Entrenched in despair and loneliness, there is a glimmer of hope for the listener. As if understanding this was not meant to be but to simply serve it's purpose as a moment in time. Amber Eyez was mixed by well known hip hop producer John Sparx whom also collaborated with Eve Minor on the album art cover. Amber Eyez will serve as the third track from an EP set for release this summer. After a hard pandemic and changing coasts, Eve Minor's sound retains it's artistic merit and authenticity with new textures as she explores the west coast. Always something fresh and different, Eve Minor delivers unexpected sounds as her own producer and keeps everyone on their toes as she reinvents and incorporates new elements sonically in her body of work.
