San Diego synth wave / art pop Glass Spells stir romantic dreams of endless energy without fossil fuels or electric cells but just their sound alone, or maybe that is my dream. Listen to their latest "Thrills", feel the pulsating synths and eclipsing engine beats and Tania Costello's penetrating vox and it makes the perfect combustion, the perfect fuel. Costello's vocal aesthetic is strong and knowing, self aware while steely and sultry. Anthony Ramirez handles the electronic sounds when he doesn't strap on his bass. He is purposely in the shadows but within Glass Spells, he is omnipresent like Ric Ocasek was to The Cars and Michael Buehl pushes that drum beat exquisitely deep in the pocket. This is the ninth time I have featured Glass Spells on American Pancake. Their sound is their sound alone, spartan with each piece of the synth pie extremely well rendered, focused and cohesive as a dance engine that feels both nostalgic but somehow from tomorrow. Future wave pop that has it's own gravitational pull. The Official Video for "Thrills", as directed and shot by Mitch Wilson of Lunar Maps Productions and edited by Glass Spells own Tania Costello, is made of light and shadows, has an amazing color palette and sense of movement. It sparkles like Glass Spells themselves.

The synth-pop electronic band Glass Spells is releasing their full-length album "Shattered" following their release of Mirrors EP. Inspired by nostalgic synth-driven classics, their latest album blends futuristic synth melodies and energetic beats with enchantingly bright female vocals.

Their LP Shattered is set to be released on August 6, 2021 through Negative Gain, followed by a show on August 14th at Soda Bar, San Diego to celebrate their new Album!

The band members are Anthony Ramirez (Instrumentals), Tania Costello (Vocals), and Michael Buehl (live drums). Glass spells have won the attention of many by it's characteristic sound which incorporates several elements from Indie, post punk, and modern electronic to create rhythms that will not get out of your head.

After the release of their EP “Mirrors”, Glass Spells’ song, Psychic Lov-ers was added to the official Spotify editorial playlist, “Fresh Finds” and“Fresh Finds: Pop” in July 2020. They have gained attention in manyonline publications such as Post-Punk Online, Big Takeover Magazine, and international music magazine Indie Rocks! Magazine, among others. They were also selected as San Diego’s - 91X radio Local Break.
