Duppy Tales and the chill divergent blend of "Sahil"

"nah nah naaah nah nah"

On the smooth and slippery "Sahil", and from their debut full length "Nightswimming", Malmoe, Sweden based Duppy Tales build a musical narrative with no words needed. For me the aesthetic here is a gorgeous, yet subtle blend of a lot of things. There are guitars painting with light jazz modalities and yet there are passages that feel more surf rockish with even post punk affections peeking in at certain points. I love the ticking cadence and the bass language that counter positions so nicely off the guitar lines as if, at times, each are doing a separate dance that supports each other. The drumming is reserved, though, tightly wound and right in, if not a nanosecond ahead of, the pocket, leading it all really.
