tummyache and the thrashing, mosh-worthy "DIY!!" (Official Video)

"If I had any less of it / I would be a fucking stick..."

London based tummyache's punk punch and swing of "DIY!!" is about the most mosh-worthy track I have heard in several months. tummyache is the alt rock project of singer-songwriter, engineer, producer, DIY-ist, Soren Bryce and was born as a cathartic form of sonic therapy while living in Brooklyn. There her anxiety would manifest in tummy aches, hence her self proclaimed moniker. Bryce's latest upcoming album was crafted during the height of the pandemic in a shed in her parent's backyard and "DIY!!" is the first single. This new album will be a follow up to her debut EP "HUMPDAY" which was also self produced.

"When the pandemic started I didn't have any intention of creating anything new, just set up shop in my parent's backyard shed and after 8 weeks had an entirely new record. This is the first single." - soren bryce

While a lot of punk thrashing is occurring, "DIY!!'s" chorus exclaims amidst Bryce's feral wails and yelps "The world's not showing up for me! The world's not showing up for me! The world's not showing up for me! But there's no guarantee" and in light of that aforementioned pandemic that itself is changing shape each day, those words feel like a ton of bricks. Especially, the no guarantee part. All the more reason to punch and swing your way through life.

tummyache is An Alternative Rock Project created by songwriter/producer Soren Bryce. The project is named after one of the side effects of severe physical anxiety. Tummyache manifested from Bryce’s need to explore a new set of emotions she experienced while living in Brooklyn, New York. the debut EP “HUMPDAY” was an honest and aggressive self-dive into a myriad of intra/interpersonal issues; as well as a reflection of the human condition through the lens of absurdism. tummyache's newest unreleased album was crafted in the shed of her parent's backyard at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first single "DIY!!" uncovers impolite truths with harsh guitars and intentionally trivial lyrics. It is a tongue-in-cheek review of the local American DIY scenes she found herself in over the past several years. While the rest of the album teeters on very differing genres, Bryce wanted to take a stab at a semi-socially acceptable way to scream and curse as it most encapsulated what she felt toward the DIY scene, the too basic lyrics ironically highlighting which parts of it are good (it’s sense of community and release) and which parts romanticise a privileged outlook on music.
