Seatkickr and the heavy choking air of "Ditch"

"Feeling like a ferris wheel on legs..."

"Ditch" by Seatkickr, a Montreal, Quebec based alt rock experimental outfit lead by Sofie Milito, has such a dark atmosphere. It feels like doom is in the air, like the air itself is heavy making it difficult to breath. As Milito's vocals bend and howl, her bass line that has a metal tonal ring stalks building a haunting framework (I thought of Nirvana, of "Something in the Way"). Michael Watson's artful electric guitar sustains fluctuating notes in double time to the bass creates dramatic tension. Michael also provides the drum anchor and Etta Gerrits' vocal harmony adds depth to Milito's eerie barbiturate drip vox. In the end, the darkness feels artful, feels cinematic.

Press notes indicate that "Ditch" is a foray into the band's new direction, a "lean towards doom-rock sensibilities" and I am smiling. Look for an upcoming EP.

Seatkickr is a music project currently based in Montreal, QC. Their debut EP was birthed amid this past summer’s series of heat waves in sweaty basements and bedrooms. Borne of front-woman Sofie’s theatre background and lean towards doom-rock sensibilities, ‘Ditch’ is a raw and mischievous first look into the band’s new direction.
