"Again" by L.A based Brooklyn transplants No Swoon has hard big edges that push against your chest while out of control percolating arpeggios add tension while Tasha Abbott's ethereal vocal cajole draws you in. The powerful synthetic bass line are incredibly impactful. They feel like a gigantic wave that can literally know everything down while at the same time the organic drum beat feels casual in comparison with distorted guitar lines ride the resulting waves of sound. It is a collision of temperaments and textures that feels caustic and, well, heavenly too. The feeling is oppressive but in a grand way like getting lost in a beautiful forest with no compass, no google maps.

"This song is about when days begin and end with no real definition, about being stuck in the loop of our life where you feel like you can't get out. This was a feeling I had even before everything shut down for Covid. Living in NYC and making it work there meant I was constantly moving: work, music, sleep, etc. It is easy to lose focus and lose sight of what's important amidst the daily tasks and schedule. ‘Again’ is really about not feeling grounded and feeling lost.”
At one point in the song, when an opposing keyboard melody criss crosses over those arpeggios I close my eyes and feel like I am elsewhere, lost and floating off the ground and maybe I was.
