PREMIERE: Luna Oku and the beautiful dream duality of "This Year" (Official Video)

Luna Oku, the nom de scène of Swiss singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Alon Ben, rolls off the tongue, feels exotic, poetic and beautiful. It is the perfect name because those descriptors apply to Alon's emotional escapes. His recent release with accompanying Official Video, "This Year", begins with a slow amble into pastoral scenes, of somber reflections. When the gentle forward beats and percussion fall in, the song's melancholia feels somehow happier as nimble juxtaposed guitar rhythms lift you up. It is all a framework for Alon's beautiful earnest croon. I love his voice that bares the bruises of life and love lost. There are fall aways and build ups done up in the most beautiful and moving ways (love the production that I don't want to reveal too much). Suffice it to say, "This Year" is as stirring and uplifting as it is somber, as progressively dream pop / rock indie drawn as it exists as a relationship ballad. It is many things and all of those things are beautiful.

All Instruments and Vocals performed by Alon Ben, additional swell guitars: Giovanni Vicari,  trumpets: James McClure,  additional Percussion: Mario Hänni, and backing vocals: Antonin Queloz.
